And as we all know, Professor Oak can only enter a place if he is invited in.

That face
THAT CREEPY STALKER FACE
HOW DID HE FIND OUT ABOUT THAT

Reply Surfersquid, July 14th, 2016, 10:07 am

@WiispNightmare: I don't even know! I think maybe the game wants you to assume that Elm told him, but I just found it a little unsettling that some guy you've presumably never met before knows who you are, what you're doing, and has been waiting at your destination for you.

... And then I realized that's exactly the sort of thing TWTF Oak would do anyway!

Reply WiispNightmare, July 15th, 2016, 6:47 am

@Surfersquid: What if he IS a ghost, and he turns invisible and follows her everywhere...
Nah, I just have an overactive imagination...*laughs nervously*

Reply Surfersquid, July 15th, 2016, 11:00 am

@WiispNightmare: Well, then he could certainly warn her about trying to use a bicycle indoors...

Reply WiispNightmare, July 16th, 2016, 7:43 am

@Surfersquid: Gosh, that makes sense now
But what about the parent ones?
You know, you hear your dad's words echo...

Reply Surfersquid, July 16th, 2016, 12:32 pm

@WiispNightmare: ... Hmmm, I'll have to make something up when it gets to that point.

Reply WiispNightmare, July 18th, 2016, 7:20 am

@Surfersquid: Uh oh
LOOKOUT PEOPLE
SS IS MAKING STUFF UP

Reply Surfersquid, July 18th, 2016, 11:53 am

@WiispNightmare: Yes, it's always a scary day when I do that.

Unfortunately, it's something I do on a regular basis. :P

WiispNightmare asked it first How in the heck did he know? O.o Even assuming he's not crazy, it sounds a bit weird. Eh, maybe Elm told him.

Which begs the question...WHY WOULD ELM DO A THING LIKE THAT?!

My first thought upon seeing the author's note was, "VAMPIRE RUUUUUUUUUN", which is probably the reaction you were going for, but my second thought was, "Like the fairies in Artemis Fowl!" which probably...isn't. XD

As a side note, where do you live? Just curious; this comic always updates at around 3:00 AM my time (please don't ask how I found this out *whistles innocently*).

Reply Surfersquid, July 14th, 2016, 10:17 am

@ReaderWriterNerd&Geek: In the games, they probably do want you to assume Elm told him. In the TWTF world... no, Elm didn't tell him. Professor Oak can find these things out on his own. How and why, we can only speculate.

Haha, I was specifically referring to the lore about vampires, but I'm sure there are a number of other books and legends out there that use the idea of a creature being unable to cross a threshold unless being invited in.

Now Professor Oak gets to join that tradition.

And I live on the west coast of the United States. I set the comic to update at midnight my time to give most people in the Western Hemisphere something to wake up to in the morning. Also for me, it's kinda fun to wake up to an email inbox full of comments.

@Surfersquid: Magic. "Dark magic of the worst kind!"

...I am sure that's a quote from something, I just can't think what.

Yaay. O.O Well, now I know how to keep him out if I see him on my doorstep, lol.

And ah, okay, thanks :) I was curious because I follow four British webcomics (one that sometimes mentions Pokemon and two that are Pokemon fancomics), and they all seem to update at three in the morning. I was wondering if you were also from Britain. XD But yay for the West Coast! I used to live there, till I was eight.

@ReaderWriterNerd&Geek: Salt may help, too.

I've lived on the West Coast nearly my whole life, but back east is super nice as well. :)

Reply ReaderWriterNerd&Geek (Guest), July 19th, 2016, 2:43 am

@Surfersquid: My shopping list: garlic, salt, rowan, iron, silver...

I think the multiplicity of vegetation on the east won me over XD But I still love the west. I'd like to go back someday.

@ReaderWriterNerd&Geek: I am in awe of the sheer amount of green the east possesses. But yes, the west has its charm as well!

Reply ReaderWriterNerd&Geek (Guest), July 20th, 2016, 3:35 pm

@Surfersquid: Yes the green alllll the green, lol. Actually, what really surprised me was the fact that yes, actually, leaves DO change color in fall (I had lived in, erm, mid-California and all the trees around were pines or manzanitas). I thought every book in the world was pulling my leg. XD

Reply Surfersquid, July 20th, 2016, 7:24 pm

@ReaderWriterNerd&Geek: Oooooh, fall back east is gorgeous!

Reply ReaderWriterNerd&Geek (Guest), July 20th, 2016, 7:47 pm

@Surfersquid: I have to agree, it is. Once I saw North Carolina on a list of "Best Places to Go in Fall" and I said, "Well hey!" to myself XD

But yes, back west is lovely in its own way :) I think I miss the tidepools on the rocky beaches most. Those and the manzanita trees. And the madrones (I think I spelled that right).

Reply Surfersquid, July 20th, 2016, 8:03 pm

@ReaderWriterNerd&Geek: Yes, there are lots of lovely things about the West! :) Have you ever been down to the Mojave Desert and seen all the Joshua trees? I think the desert is just breathtaking.

Reply ReaderWriterNerd&Geek (Guest), July 21st, 2016, 8:23 pm

@Surfersquid: Sadly, no; I haven't ever been to any really cool places like that :( Someday I'd like to, though, it looks awesome! Deserts really are fascinating places.

Reply Surfersquid, July 21st, 2016, 8:35 pm

@ReaderWriterNerd&Geek: I hope you get to someday!

Reply Scia (Guest), July 14th, 2016, 4:30 pm

@Surfersquid: I'm thinking he's got the New Bark lab bugged, or managed to slip malware onto Elm's system. One way or another, I'm guessing he's keeping tabs. :U

Reply Surfersquid, July 14th, 2016, 4:33 pm

@Scia: Haha! Excellent.

Reply Sanji (Guest), July 18th, 2016, 3:05 pm

@Surfersquid: I thought of vampires too XP

Reply HaikenEdge, July 14th, 2016, 2:10 pm

Well, then, that'll be a short journey.

I decided to not leave the house anymore years ago.

But then I got a job and had to rethink that. :(

He'll probably just creep while at your house though, knowing him...
